“Blue over William’s”, Mícheál Quinn’s new album of unaccompanied traditional song, will be launched at An Góilín by Ian Lynch. The album showcases Mícheál’s extensive song repertoire and his sparsely ornamented, direct, honest, unaccompanied singing, which connects the listener instantly with the story and emotion of each song.

Mícheál Quinn was born and reared in Mullaghbawn in South Armagh and now lives in Leixlip, Co Kildare. His inheritance of traditional song came directly from his father Micil Ned (Mick Quinn) and his grandfather, John Ned Quinn, who were well known traditional singers before him. His repertoire is heavily influenced by his family, his birthplace and the rich tradition of Ulster singing. Mícheál has been a guest performer at many singing festivals including the Frank Harte Weekend, the Inishowen Singing Weekend, the Róise Rua festival on Árainn Mhór, the Cullerlie Singing Festival, An Góilín and Whitby Folk Festival.
